Hey beautiful people!
We're still on my made in Nigeria series where I've been talking about Nigerian fashion brands doing great things. If you missed the first couple of posts be sure to catch up here. Today's focus is on this top from (DFL Rocks) which we'll talk more about at the end of this post. I'd like to step away from fashion to for a little bit.

It's been a while I talked about my faith but if you read my Sarah Speaks on God Where are You, then you know why. Sometime later, I picked up my bible for some quiet time with God for the first time in a long while. It felt weird in a way and I realized just how much I had missed God and my personal time with him. For me, my favorite part of the Christian walk is the study of God's word but after months of doubting and drifting from God, it was nonexistent. God felt so far away and it was really all my doing. But no matter how far away I felt from God, I always had this knowledge that he was there waiting for me and I'm thankful for it. What a privilege it is to serve a God who's ready to accept us when we come back. A God that's always interested even when we're not. And as I struggled and struggle to get back to him and find my footing in this relationship, I'm reminded that God is only as far from us as we are from him, "draw near to God and he will draw near to you (James 4:8)".

I'm still unsure of a lot of things at this point but  I want to be closer to him and be on fire once again. I want to get back to sharing about his awesomeness too. And I want to do more of that when I'm ready, all for his glory always. And this is why I cut down on faith posts because you can only preach what you practice but the goal of this blog for me has always been to share my faith through fashion. So your girl will be back with those faith posts very soon. In the meantime, I want to encourage someone to keep pressing because if not God, who or what else?

Now for the outfit and brand review,  Design for Love (DFL Rocks) is a women's wear brand that often incorporates prints, textures, and drama into its various pieces.  I never win giveaways but I was lucky enough to win this top in addition to an ankara skirt which I didn't like when I tried it on. I do love the texture and exaggerated sleeves of the top though. The finishing was nice too except for the work done on the zip. The wrong side of the zip was sewn on the right side of the top and after wearing the top thrice, the zip busted. I'm not sure how much this top costs but I believe it would be a little on the high side given the price range of the brand. Overall this is a top I will be re-wearing and restyling in upcoming posts.

I simply styled it with my yellow mules, also made in Nigeria by ShopRBJ and mom jeans previously styled in a lookbook here and here(DFL Rocks), ships worldwide as well!

How would you restyle this top? I'm thinking of layering this underneath a dress or so?
Have you ever struggled with your relationship with God? How did you get back to it?

  1. Effortlessly stylish and comfortable Sarah. Such a nice blouse. I love the idea of layering it under a dress and I think tucked in a pencil skirt is also a good idea.
