THE DENIM SKIRT
Hey guys! My apologies for the lack of posts last week, it was just one of those weeks.
Photography by me
The older I get the more I realize just how privileged I was growing up. As I mentioned in my 10 Things About Me Tag, I come from a large family yet Dad and mom provided everything we needed and more. God has been so faithful and I'm thankful for my family.
Since coming back one thing that has been glaringly obvious is the large gap between the middle-class and the rich not to mention the poor. The stories I've heard so far are just wow. To think that the amount of money I spend only on internet or clothes (which is a lot by the way), others need it desperately for food. Even some of the comforts I'm used to having coming from a middle-class family, some have never even dreamed of. I may complain from time to time about certain things but I try to remind myself that no matter how bad (which isn't that bad) it is someone else has it worse.
"In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you." (1 Thessalonians 5:18 NKJV)
Now in the spirit of fashion blogging I must talk about the outfit. I have been on the hunt for a denim skirt for a while now. Thrift stores are always faithful and I got this pair for an amazing bargain. When styling the denim skirt, I went with a basic tank top and added the scarf which just transformed this basic look. The addition of a scarf is a quick way to spice up an outfit, you can check out 5 ways to rock a scarf for more inspiration. This look is actually a recreation of Skinny Hipster's outfit for the Hipster Mix challenge which I've done in the past (here and here) but I wasn't able to submit it in time, oh well. I look forward to styling this skirt in several more ways so stay tuned guys!

Yes large wealth gaps exist and it is very unfortunate. I sometimes wonder if these gaps will ever be lessened somehow. I'm still hoping for a better future...
ReplyDeleteI love your outfit by the way, very edgy!
Oh, I think we all have one of those weeks...you know?
ReplyDeleteI love your denim skirt, and the way you styled the scarf! Heck, I might be stealing this look for myself! Hahaha <3

I know exactly what you mean! Sometimes I feel really uncomfortable talking about money because what if someone within earshot is wondering "She spent that much on WHAT?!?!?" And I'm even a frugal person at that! But still. What some people earn in a month is what the hubby and I can spend on a date night!
ReplyDeleteJust makes you feel grateful for what you have.

What a coincidence, was planning to style my scarf the same way tomorrow...it's a classic.
ReplyDeleteI loooove your skirt, am yet to get lucky in that department.
As always your words remind me to sit back and think deep. Am guilty of complaining every so often and not appreciating some things in my life....but of late I've learnt to value every tiny detail cause like you said, someone else has it worse.

This is such a cute outfit Sarah. And the scarf transformed the whole look into another level.. Its amazing how simple accessories can jazz up an outfit! I'm inspired😊 . I also love your choice of shoes, so chic and classy!
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand I totally agree with you that we should always thank God for the far he has brought us. Its always sad to see other people suffering. Sometimes I wish I could help all of them!
God is in control dear, never forget that😊
