HOW WOULD YOU WEAR BODY-CON
Photography by Peter Audu
Hey guys, how've you been? So I'm back from my mini-break and I'm also back to Nigeria but you would know that if you follow me on Facebook or Instagram.
So this months theme is body-con and as you've probably noticed it's not my go-to fit and this is because I feel body consious in it. I hate having to always suck-in my tummy or worry about panty lines and the rest. I am also a foodie which means I often eat to the point that I have a little baby tummy and I'm not really in my best shape now but thank God for amazing shapewear which is a must to keep everything in place.
Outfits like this show how far I've come in accepting my flaws. There was a time that I never wore skirts above my knees because I was too conscious about the scars on my legs (read more about it here). I've come to accept them now because honestly they will always be there. I've also come to realize that when you stop drawing attention to your flaws people stop noticing it too so own those flaws!

same here, body con's are always beautiful but for me being too conscious of my body is an ish....i love how you styled yours.
ReplyDeletewill you be at the Abuja Makeup Fair on Saturday??
The Beautiful Eagle
Which Saturday @the beautiful eagle. I love the way you style yours and it is amazing to see how far you have grown.

Lol. My ass is too flat for a bodycon dress so I'm not really a fan. Its not really body conscious, its more of me accepting that it doesn't really flatter me.

@theBeautiful eagle thank you, this is the first I'm hearing of the event. @dleonalife I know right
ReplyDelete@Cassandra, lol but a little bit of squatting will change your mind. Trust me it helps.
ReplyDeleteI don't wear body cons because I feel it's for thick girls and I have tummy fat. But I like your idea and way u styled it.

I love it, and your shoes love love love

I love how you styled the bodycon theme. I too hated body-hugging dresses like these because of the itty-bitty love handle I saw when I looked into the mirror. I've been going strong now with my workout (hope you haven't stopped o) and I'm beginning to see results. And shapewears do go a long way (I was besides myself when I found one in my size). Feel free to link to my post, it's live now.

What a great topic to touch! I was always that one person who was always scared of showing off my flaws but I came to learn that they are a part of me! I totally agree with the last part of your post about people not noticing your flaws unless you draw attention towards them! So true!! Confidence is key! Love how you styled this body con dress! So edgy!!
ReplyDeletewww.styledbymilly.com
Yes o, confidence is key. I totally agree with you. Once u start drawing attenttion to ur flaws, others will automatically notice them.so OWN IT! I really admire this combination and I might just give this a try as I shy away from bodycons. Keep up the good work Sarah, u inspire me.
DeleteI love how you styled the look and it's funny how most of us are very conscious of the "body con look" yet here we are overcoming the styling challenge lol. I had to go for a dress with a thicker fabric than the regular bodycon dress.

Totally love the way you rocked it and love the pop of pink

I don't have a body con dress, mainly because I don't have a body for a body con. I'm oddly shaped with hips but no butt. I shouldn't be body-conscious but I am. But hey, you still rocking it! <3

I have plenty of them cos am naturally endowed behind *wink* but once I add a little weight I stop cos of my tummy or I will be prepared not to eat or drink anything for d rest of d day till I get back home its not easy accepting ur flaws cos every lady wants to be flawless I remember d days I don't wear short hand dresses no matter how beautiful it is cos of a little stretch mark on my arm.But now I ve learnt to be me and hv a lot of confidence it boost ur self esteem

ReplyDeleteI used to hate bodycon as well because of my wide hips, I felt like that's all you could see and I was very self-conscious about that but I've learned to embrace my body and now I love wearing them! Love how you styled that outfit!!

I like how you styled you bodycon. For me, I am always conscious about that expose my shoulders and my cleavage. I have marks and for me I am still yet to get over it. So I am always covering this parts of my body. I also think the rest of the ladies look awesome.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your week!

Speaking of shape wear, its shocking how some people don't understand that smaller girls also wear them. I for one do. You look amazing and I am inclined to get them Zara heels in red too. x

You ladies sure rocked the body con. Loving all the pieces cause they show it can be worn by any body type.
ReplyDeleteThere's a time I was very body conscious...always sucking in my tummy, hating the stretchmarks on my legs and all other little things that make us ladies lose out on amazing styles. However today am much more appreciative of my body and body-con is definitely a yes for me tummy or not.
Loving your shoes and hat...they so cute. Blessed week ahead. Kisses.
