WORK WEAR: WIDE LEG TROUSERS + PUSSY BOW BLOUSE
Hey beautiful people!
So when in comes down to office wear for women, it can be quite tricky. While one might want to be appropriately dressed when deciding on what to wear to work, one might still want to remain stylishness as well.
So for the next couple of weeks on the blog, I'll be guiding you on simple and easy corporate attires for the workplace.
This first look features a pair of wide leg high waist trousers, one item that I believe should be in a woman's work closet. Now if you've been following me for a while, you'd know all about my love for trousers. And this pair is no exception. I love the slightly loose fit and comfort of this pair.
This pair from Lavince cost me only 5,000 naira including shipping in Abuja, remember I collaborated with them here and here. As an avid lover of all things trousers, I've got to give it to this made in Nigeria brand, for affordability (everything's under 6k) and quality.
In styling I paired it with a pussy bow retro blouse from my store and my nude snake skin pumps which are perfect for work heels. I finally accessorized with my round retro frames and black structured bag from my moms closet.

As usual this won't be the last time that these trousers feature on the blog so stay tuned.
How would you style these trousers differently? What's one item that you think should be in one's work wardrobe?
Happy July! Praying for a blessed and more productive second half on 2017.
The way I love this outfit combo eh. The prints of the shirt and the style. I agree that the black troseur is a basic for work wear and you can even wear it outside of work, with offshoulder tops. Yes!
ReplyDeleteYou did good love.

Right I am actually planning a more dressed down version of this look for date night or maybe even church. And yes styling it with an off shoulder top would be perfect. Thanks girl for the love always.
DeleteThat's a splendid formal outfit, and the glasses tops it all off. Good look!
ReplyDeleteThank you, I loved the finishing touch of the glasses too!
DeleteCrushing on your trousers!! 😍😍 I'm still searching for the perfect pair. Culottes should definitely be a part of any stylist lady' s wardrobe though. Love how you styled those trousers. Suits you too well!

I agree, culottes are a must have too, so free and easy to pull off. I do hope you find that perfect pair. You can always check out Lavince as they are quite affordable or try thrifting, sometimes one can get lucky.
DeleteThis so nice and comfortable. I hate to wear tight outfits to work so I should definitely grab a pair of pants like this for myself.
ReplyDeleteI think everyone should have a pencil skirt in a solid color. That way, you can witch it up or down depending on what you pair it with
I agree with you Tee, office clothes should be appropriately fitted but not too tight. And I'd love to see how you rock trousers like this. Great tip about the pencil skirt too, very versatile as you've already pointed out.
DeleteDayum girl, You should just walk straight to your boss' office wearing this and demand a raise.
ReplyDeleteKilled it!

DeleteAs if I knew the bag wasn't yours as the Satchel Queen that you are. Love, love the whole look. It's totally screaming corporate chic, I also love the sleek low bun hairstyle you're sporting. You never disappoint Mami :D

Lol but Ebun I actually own more structured work bags but they don't usually make it to the blog since they are quite hard to juggle around on my photo-shoot days. Though, as you've already pointed out, I actually prefer my satchel bags but for work I need huge bags that I allow me to comfortably carry my whole life around. Thanks for the compliment on the hair, the hairdo is definitely more cost effective and better for my hairline. I really appreciate your constant support, it means a lot.
DeleteNice photography Sarah. I like wide leg pants because they look elegant and are so easy to style(really versatile), but for some reason I just don't look good on it maybe is because of how slim I am. Anyways, you look elegant and ready for work, like you are the boss waiting for the driver to come pick you up!

I think for wide leg trousers it is all about finding the balance and understanding what works for your body type. For slimmer people I say go with something like ruffles on the top but the key thing is to always make sure your waist is nicely cinched in, I hope that helped a bit. Future boss in the house so I'm glad its translating.
DeleteLove love love the pants, looks amazing, honestly i dont think there's anything you can't do in them. Love the fact you always give work style inspiration.

Right, the versatility of this pair is actually what drew me. And thank you so much Sogie for always stopping by and re-posting my content, I seek to inspire always so thank you.
DeleteI discovered last year that wide leg trousers fits me so damn much! I have bought so many of them since this discovery... almost that I am clearing out skinny trousers from my wardrobe.
ReplyDeleteLove how you styled this! Love the shirt, mostly.

Yay glad you discovered one of my favorite closet staples. I actually think they are very flattering on most body types. So yes to more wide leg trousers as opposed to skinnies, besides they are definitely more comfortable. And thank you, the shirt actually grew on me over time.
DeleteWide leg pants are a favorite and you styled this pair so perfectly!!!
